Accepta's SIG tests have been specifically developed to monitor levels of anaerobic bacteria including sulphide for sulphate reducing bacteria and nitrite for de-nitrifying bacteria.
Accepta's SIG tests are quick, easy and safe to use and deliver far quicker results than the standard laboratory test method TMO194-94.
No special training is required and the anaerobic bacteria monitoring results are semi quantitative giving an indication of the severity of an infection.
Accepta's high performance SIG tests are available in either Sulphide for sulphate reducing bacteria or Nitrite for de-nitrifying bacteria found in closed water systems when dosed with nitrite.

SIG Sulphide Test
Accepta's SIG Sulphide test is used to identify sulphate reducing bacteria.
The Sig Sulphide test is used to detect the presence of micro-organisms that can cause pitting corrosion in closed water systems e.g. Sulphate Reducing Bacteria (SRB).
The test can be used to test samples of:
- Process Water
- Bilge Water
- Ballast Water
- Fuel Tank Bottom Water
- Metal Working Fluids
- Environmental Waters
The test consists of a screw capped, glass tube half filled with a selective microbiological culture medium that semi-quantitatively indicates the presence of sulphide generating bacteria by the rate and extent of the development of a black colour.
A small amount of sample is added to the tube which is kept warm (incubated at 30oC) for up to seven days viewing the results regularly.
SIG Nitrite Test
Accepta's SIG Nitrite test is used to identify de-nitrifying bacteria which can be found in closed water systems when dosed with nitrite.
The Sig Nitrite test is used to detect the presence of nitrite reducing micro-organisms in:
- Cooling Waters
- Metal Working Fluids
- Effluent and Waste Waters
- Systems with Nitrite Corrosion Inhibitor
The test consists of a screw capped glass tube half filled with a selective microbiological culture medium that indicates the presence of nitrite reducing micro-organisms in an aqueous sample by changing colour from ORANGE to PINK and also by producing gas bubbles.
A small amount of sample is added to the tube which is kept warm (incubated at 30oC) for up to seven days, viewing the results regularly.
Both tests are simple to use and indicate problems in Closed Water Systems from the activity of Anaerobic bacteria.
