Phosphate Removal from Swimming Pools

Phosphate Removal - Accepta 9079 is an innovative, high performance product developed specifically for phosphate removal from swimming pools, spas, fountains and water parks. It works to naturally eliminate algae and prevents any future growth by simply removing the waterborne phosphate nutrients algae feed on. This excellent product stops the growth of pool algae without the need for environmentally harmful algaecides or corrosive chemicals which can cause eye and skin irritation, chemical odours and destroy equipment.

Accepta 9079 is produced from a proprietary formulation that has the ability to reduce phosphate levels in swimming pools, spas, fountains and water parks to levels below 100 parts per billion. Its ability to remove phosphate nutrients so successfully makes it the perfect solution for the proactive control of algae in pools, spas and fountains. It tackles algae problems proactively, at the route-source rather than reactively, minimising the need for algaecides.

Benefits of Accepta 9079

Accepta 9079 has several significant benefits including:

    • Eliminates algae and prevents future growth.
    • Reduces pool maintenance costs.
    • Eliminates/minimises the need for algaecides.
    • Environmentally friendly pool management solution.
    • Minimises unwanted “chlorine” smells!
    • Reduced eye and skin irritation.
    • Improved safety in use.

General Background

Eco-friendly phosphate control

Phosphate Sources - Swimming Pools, Spas, Fountains and Water Parks

Phosphates, the essential nutrient for all types of algae can have several sources including:

    • Landscaping.
    • Potted plants.
    • Rain drainage.
    • Swim wear and clothes washed in phosphate containing products.
    • Cleaning solutions that contain trisodium phosphate

Algae Types

Green Algae

Floating algae, but sometimes clings to walls. Renders the pool uninviting and dangerous to use by making it difficult to see the bottom of the pool. Before green coloration appears, pool exhibits a high chlorine demand.

Mustard (Yellow) Algae

Yellow powdery deposit on the pool, usually on shady side. Once established it is chlorine resistant and can exist in the presence of 3-5 ppm free chlorine. Common following a heavy storm.

Black (Blue-Green) Algae

Evident by the formation of small coin sized black spots, tenaciously adhering to the pool surfaces. Black algae forms a layered structure where the first layer, which may be killed by chlorine, protect the under layer from further destruction. Black algae, like mustard algae, is also very chlorine resistant.

How Accepta 9079 Works

Accepta 9079 is produced from a proprietary formulation that has the ability to reduce phosphate levels in swimming pools, spas, fountains and water parks to levels below 100 parts per billion.

As detailed in the above diagram, by removing phosphates from the water, the essential nutrient (phosphates) for all types of algae is eliminated. The result is no algae growth, achieved without the need to kill the algae using algaecides such as quaternary ammonium salts (QAS).

Besides preventing algae in a more environmentally friendly and safer way, other major benefits include ending the chemical smell, and improved performance and cost over chlorine-based sanitisers.

Breaking the Algaecide Cycle with Accepta 9079

Without Accepta 9079, the use of algaecides can actually promote algal problems. Such an algaecide cycle can lead to increased costs, unwanted and unpleasant odours and more:

Accepta 9079 successfully eliminates the essential nutrient for all types of algae (phosphates) from pool water. Algal growth is therefore eliminated without the need for algaecides such as quaternary ammonium salts (QAS).

Reducing Pool Smells, Eye & Skin Irritation

The use of Accepta 9079 can help to minimise unwanted “chlorine” smells, eye and skin irritation:

Chlorine + QAS (Free Amonia) = CHLORAMINES

Chloramines = CHLORINE ODOR + EYE IRRITATION

Chlorine alone does not smell!

This smell is detected as “chlorine odour”.

Particular problem for indoor pools with algae.
