What surfaces can I test?
Accepta’s contact slides can be used to test a wide range of hard and soft surfaces including floors, walls, equipment, patients (normally the hand)…

How quickly will I get a test result?
Results are obtained in 24 hours simply by reading the surface of the contact slide plate. This means that rapid action can be taken in the event of a positive result. Full, easy to understand instructions are provided with each pack.

Do I need specialist equipment to carry out the test?
No, all you need is an Accepta Contact Slide and an incubator.

Where can I use the slides?

How do I use the Accepta Slides to test surfaces for the presence of MRSA?
Simply remove the slide from its clear plastic container, press the slide onto the surface to be tested, reinsert the slide into its container and incubate for 24 hours at 37 degrees C. The surface of the slide will change colour within 24 hours in the event of a positive result for MRSA. Easy to use instructions are provided with each pack.

Do I need a laboratory to obtain the test results?
No, the tests can be carried out and completed locally, for example on the ward. All you need is an Accepta Contact Slide and an incubator.

How do I know if MRSA is present?
The agar on the surface of the slide will change colour within 24 hours indicating a positive test for MRSA. Easy to use instructions are provided with each pack.

Are the slides specific to MRSA?
One side of the slide is specific to MRSA (approximately 98% specific), the other side will test for Staphylococcus aureus.

What is the detection level achieved?
Approximately 1.5 cfu per 10 cm2.

How do I dispose of the slides once used?
The slides must be treated as clinical waste and disposed of accordingly.

Do the slides have a life expectancy?
Yes, because of the specialist nature of the agar used on the slides they have a shelf life of between 4 and 6 months.

How are the slides packed?
The slides are available in packs of 10 slides.
