The use of chlorine dioxide

in potable water treatment

Potable water is water that is fit for human consumption i.e. drinking water.

Chlorine dioxide (ClO2) is US EPA approved for both the pre-treatment and final disinfection of potable waters. It will eliminate microorganisms including Escherichia coli (e coli) and other coliforms, Listeria, Staphylococcus aureus, Giardia cysts, algae, and Salmonella...more.

Case Study - Develop your own toolkit

for effective effluent management.

A recent study has determined the feasibility of developing a Toolkit for the selection of the best effluent management solutions for specialised organic chemicals manufacturers, especially those with ‘hard COD’ problems.

Organic chemicals manufacturers generally have complex effluents for which determination of optimum treatment conditions is difficult.

The proposed Toolkit would help companies to:

  • rapidly characterise their effluent;
  • consistently predict final effluent quality;
  • determine the optimum-cost effluent
    management solution.

The following business benefits would result:

  • competitive advantage through increasing the speed of response to new product enquiries;
  • cost-effective compliance with statutory requirements;
  • minimising costs of effluent treatment operations….

For your complimentary copy of this excellent case study please e-mail sdooner@accepta.com quoting the full title of the document.

How to successfully prepare

your pool for winter shutdown

Keeping your swimming pool in good order is essential, especially during extended shutdown periods and over the winter months. This short guide identifies some of the key points to consider at this important time:

Prerequisites

  • Water can be more aggressive when temperatures fall, so adjust pH. To the extended range of 7.2 – 7.8.
  • Clean your filter.
  • Shock dose your pool to 5 – 10 ppm, using Accepta 9031, our quick dissolving shock treatment.

Adding Winter Chemicals

These are designed to provide longer lasting algae control in all products and protection from staining (metals, leaf mould etc.) in more advanced formulas like Accepta’s WinterShock and WinterClean. If you are not on chlorine/bromine sanitisers check your chosen winteriser for compatibility with other sanitisers with Accepta.

Other Important Closedown Tips

If you do not have a frost stat fitted, you should drain the water from your pump, filter and heater to avoid frost damage. Consult the Accepta Technical team if you are in any doubt.

Fit a well-designed winter debris cover to keep your pool free from leaves and windblown debris over the winter months.

Uncovered pools and pools exposed to excessive winter rain will benefit from an additional mild-winter shock sanitiser dose and winteriser top-up.
