Leak Detector - Ultraviolet (UV) Tracer Dye

UV Leak Detector - Accepta's technically advanced ultraviolet (UV) leak detector tracer dye is an innovative, optically sensitive tracer compound used in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries for leak detection and pressure testing operations in fresh or seawater environments. It offers significant advantages over existing 'visible' dye-based fluorescent leak tracer systems including:

    • Invisible to the human eye under normal white light conditions. Accepta 3554 is only visible using specially tuned ultraviolet (UV) light.
    • Lower toxicity than traditional tracer dyes, reducing 'in use' Health and Safety concerns and the negative impact on local marine life.
    • No unsightly staining of seawater, rivers, watercourses etc. normally associated with the more traditional brightly coloured dyestuffs.
    • Tested and compatible with Aquatracker UV emission/fluorescence instruments.
    • Compatible with many Accepta biocides and oxygen scavengers.

Applications

Accepta's ultraviolet leak detector tracer dye is used for leak detection and pressure testing operations involving fresh or seawater. Because Accepta 3554 is readily traceable using UV light it offers considerable advantage over many of the more familiar fluorescent leak test tracers in that it is undetectable to the human eye without a tuned UV lamp, whilst being strongly fluorescent under tuned UV light. Unsightly, highly visible discharged test solutions can therefore be avoided.

How to use Accepta's Ultraviolet (UV) Tracer Dye

A working concentration of 20ppm is normally recommended. This allows the easy detection of leaks from submersed systems where tracer dyes may be rapidly dissipated because of the bulk of water involved.

20% ppm solution - to achieve 20ppm, add 100g of Accepta 3554 solution to every m³ of test solution. (1 m³ is equivalent to 1000 litres or 1 tonne or approx. 5 barrels). The Accepta 3554 solution is stable, non-toxic, low in general hazard to personnel and readily soluble in both fresh and seawater. Accepta 3554 solution may be injected directly into the test solution at a fill or prepared for use in bulk by teaming the fluid onto a heal of Accepta 3554 solution in a header or pre-mix tank. Accepta 3554 solution does not form foam.
