Odour Control & Neutralisation

Odour Control -To understand the process of odour control and odor neutralisation it is first necessary to understand the make-up of an odor. There are generally three elements that can cause an unpleasant odor; nitrogen, oxygen and sulphur. An odor containing oxygen is usually sweet whilst containing nitrogen and sulphur compounds are usually foul.

To detect odor the responsible compound needs to be volatile and so airborne. The compound can then stimulate the olfactory glands in the nose and cause a number of complex reactions resulting in what we refer to as "smell".

With some compounds only a few molecules may be needed to cause this reaction, whilst others are capable of blocking odours when in high concentrations and become no longer detectable above certain levels. This situation can be very dangerous if the compound is a lethal one, such as hydrogen sulphide.

Odor control is often achieved in two ways, either by neutralization or odor masking.

Neutralization

Accepta 2050 - Accepta 2050 is an innovative, technically advanced odor neutralizer product. Neutralization is the process that nullifies the odor-producing compound, including those persistently produced. During this process the specially formulated agent (Accepta 2050) is atomised and absorbs the odor-producing compound, neutralising the compound. The result is not just the elimination of the unpleasant smell but a light and fresh aroma to the location ... odor neutraliser >>

Odor Control from Accepta

Accepta 2050 is a highly effective odor control product specifically developed to neutralise odors generated across a range of food processing, industrial and commercial environments. The product reacts with odor molecules and eliminates them. For optimum performance, Accepta 2050 should be atomised into the air using hand sprayers, mechanical sprayers or other such devices. Accepta 2050 can also be used in air scrubbers, emission stacks, plant outfalls, trucks for landfill spraying etc. Typical dilution of the product is between 50:1 to 250:1.

Accepta 7140 - Accepta 7140 is an innovative, eco-friendly biological odour control agent and odor neutraliser developed specifically for use in hotels, restaurants, leisure facilities; and institutional, commercial and industrial environments. It is a natural product and is active against an array of sulphur and nitrogen-containing compounds that are usually associated with waste odours, including amines, ammonia, mercaptans, and hydrogen sulphide. The accelerated biodegradation of odorous organic compounds is enhanced by the selectively adapted strains found in Accepta 7140, and is assisted by specially formulated microbial growth stimulating ingredients ... biological odor control >>

Masking

Masking is the concept behind air fresheners in that a pleasant smell is introduced in high enough concentrations to mask the unpleasant smell. The nose then only detects the pleasant smell. The only drawback to this approach is that the foul smell is not removed but remains in the background and the masking agent may be required repeatedly.
