Algal Blooms & Algae Control for Lakes & Ponds

Algal Blooms and algae control for lakes and ponds using Accepta’s eco-friendly biological treatment product Accepta 7104. Accepta 7104 is an innovative dry biological product consisting of a blend of bacterial strains on a gradually soluble support system, developed specifically to help pond or lake clarification and silt removal.

Accepta 7104 provides excellent curative and preventative solutions to chronically or accidentally polluted aquatic environments.

Aquatic Environments

Enclosed aquatic environments such as lakes and ponds are often very unstable and complex systems. Because of poor water renewal; agricultural, urban or industrial pollutions can have a significant impact on these systems and are often very difficult to tackle effectively.

Hydrocarbon or detergent spills form a film covering the surface of the water, slowing the dissolution of oxygen causing damage to the pond or lakes inherent biological balance. The absence of circulating currents also increase this effect, and this often leads to the degradation of local aquatic fauna and flora.

Lakes receiving residual or simply running water with high concentrations of fertilising compounds (including azote and phosphorus) will develop flora, which generates an excessive bacterial biomass that uses up much of the available oxygen. This lack of available oxygen and the build-up of excessive suspended matter soon leads to the death of local aquatic life, and the silting-up of the lake. This process is known as Eutrophication.

Benefits of Accepta 7104

    • Water clarification can be observed only a few days after the beginning of treatment. This is because of its mineral support with high specific surface enhances coagulation and flocculation of suspended material.
    • The bacteria fixed on Accepta 7104 supports decreased silt volume, mineralise it, modifying its physio-chemical characteristics.
    • Bacteria separated from its support will completely degrade the oily film produced by hydrocarbons or detergents. This degradation re-establishes normal air/water exchanges and promotes a healthy aquatic environment.
    • Bacteria of Accepta 7104 have a higher specific utilisation rate that allows superior Nitrogen and Phosphorous consumption compared to naturally occurring bacteria. In this way Accepta 7104 stops the eutrophication process occurring.
    • Accepta 7104 will remain active even at low temperatures.
    • Accepta 7104 accelerates the materialisation of lakebed sludge deposits and so avoids the resulting anaerobic process and formation of bad odours.

Dosage and Directions for Use

Accepta 7104 dosage depends on the volume of water to be treated and pollutants to be degraded. However, average treatment will require:

Lakes, Ponds and Ornamental Basins:

    • Seeding: 250g/m2 of surface of water.
    • Repeat operation until complete clarification.

Maintenance: 120 to 150 g/m2 of surface of water.

    • Apply maintenance dosage 2 to 3 times a year, preferably between spring and autumn.

Aquaria:

    • A yearly treatment is generally sufficient: 100 g / 100 litre of water.
    • If necessary, repeat operation 2 to 3 times a year.

Product Application

Accepta 7104 must be evenly spread over the surface of the water to be treated.
